Back on June 16, 2013, Milwaukee Police Department (“MPD”) Officer Rodney Lloyd was escorting a male arrestee into the booking room of the MPD District 2 station. As he was escorting the arrestee, Officer Lloyd forcibly drove the man’s head into a concrete block wall. Surveillance video captured the incident. An MPD Internal Affairs investigation concluded that Officer Lloyd used excessive force. As a result, the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office has brought criminal charges for misconduct in public office against Officer Lloyd.
On October 16, 2013, Officer Lloyd had his initial court appearance, where he waived his right to a preliminary hearing and pleaded not guilty to the misconduct in public office charge. If he is convicted of the misconduct charge, Officer Lloyd faces three and a half years in prison, as well as $10,000 in fines. Officer Lloyd’s next court date is scheduled for November 12, 2013.
