The United States Department of Transportation National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (“NHTSA”) announced that it will issue a recommendation that all new vehicles be equipped with rearview cameras. The recommendation for rearview cameras will be added to the NHTSA’s list of recommended safety features for vehicle manufacturers. Some safety groups criticized the NHTSA, believing that rearview cameras should be mandatory in all vehicles.

We also want to prevent unsafe driving, including all forms of distracted driving, which includes activities such as texting while driving. The campaign is running from now until approximately the middle of October. Drivers who visit and “like” the Samster, Konkel & Safran Facebook page and the other sponsors’ Facebook pages can register another entry for the IPad mini giveaway. We will also have blue Band2Gether thumb bands for drivers to show their commitment to not text and drive.
