West Bend Auto Accident Possible Cause: Distracted Driving

Posted on

Distracted driving may have been the cause of a fatal automobile accident in West Bend on Monday, September 16, 2013. Three vehicles were stopped in a construction zone on Highway 33 when a fourth vehicle, an SUV, failed to stop and crashed into a car which was the third vehicle in line. The car struck by the SUV hit the vehicle in front of it and then skidded across lanes of traffic. A 50-year-old woman who was a passenger in the car hit by the SUV died at the scene of the accident. According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Department, the driver of the SUV may have been engaging in distracted driving at the time of the accident. Specifically, the driver of the SUV may have been distracted by a beverage she was drinking while driving.

The Wisconsin automobile accident lawyers of Samster, Konkel & Safran are concerned about the dangers of distracted driving. We have joined a campaign, called “Band2Gether,” to prevent distracted driving. This campaign is sponsored by the Journal Broadcasting Group (“JBG”), including Today’s TMJ4, 620 WTMJ AM and the Lake 94.5 FM, as well as other sponsors. The “Band2Gether” campaign is running from now until approximately the middle of October. Drivers can visit one of the JBG stations’ Facebook pages, “like” the page, and take the Band2Gether pledge to not text and drive. Drivers who take the pledge can then register for an IPad mini weekly giveaway. Drivers can also visit and “like” the Samster, Konkel & Safran Facebook page and the other sponsors’ Facebook pages, and then register another entry for the IPad mini giveaway.

The campaign is also offering blue Band2Gether thumb bands for drivers to show their commitment to not text and drive. Drivers can visit our office at 11063 West Bluemound Road, Suite 205, Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, 53226, e-mail our office at info@skslawyers.com, or call our office to get a Band2Gether thumb band.
