On Monday, February 1, 2016, a Milwaukee Police Department officer was in the process of making an arrest when both the officer and the suspect were struck by a vehicle. The accident happened at about 10:00 PM near the intersection of North 47th Street and West Locust Street. As the officer was arresting the suspect, a vehicle traveling east bound on Locust hit the officer and the suspect. The vehicle then left the scene. Both the officer and the suspect were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
Dani Fausek, whose father lives near the scene of the crash, was not surprised by the incident, because cars often speed in the area. “I was hoping the officer is all right. This is a bad corner, a bad section for accidents and everything. I wasn’t surprised. They come tearing down Locust Street really fast,” Fausek said. Milwaukee Police are still looking for the hit-and-run driver.
